"IF
THEY ARE PEACEFUL"
The informer's report written by Julie
Maynard about her trip to New york in Narch, 1972 concludes
with one crucial piece of information: Lennon sent a
"message" that he would come to the demonstrations
at the Republican National Convention in Miami "if they
are peaceful."
The FBI told the courts and the public they had been
conducting a legitimate criminal investigation of Lennon
because they had information that he intended to partcipate
in violent, diruptive demonstrations in Miami. The FBI went
all the way to the Supreme Court to prevent this document
from being released to the public. It undermines the entire
pretext of the FBI's investigation of Lennon.
